Book Publicity Do’s and Don’t’s for Indie Authors by Amy Collins and from BookWorks: “Every author is hoping for a call from NPR’s Terry Gross or the producers of Good Morning America. Perhaps they are pitching for a cover story at USA Today. Spending more than a small amount of time and money on these Top Tier Media outlets is not a great idea. There is a VERY small chance of getting in (especially if you are an indie author.) On top of that, if you DO get a Big Hit, it is a general media outlet going to a general audience; it is virtually impossible to focus on your message. Book Titles: 10 Tips for Choosing the Right Title for Your Book by Anne R. Allen: “Book titles are so important. Would the novels Trimalchio in West Egg, First Impressions, or Private Flemming, His Various Battles have succeeded if their publishers hadn’t changed the titles to The Great Gatsby, Pride and Prejudice, and The Red Badge of Courage before publication?” We’ll never know. But I think most of us will agree the publishers improved on the originals.”
